Hebrew poet Rami Saari was born in Petah Tikva on September 17, 1963, and spent his childhood in Israel and Argentina. He studied Semitic and Uralic languages at the Universities of Helsinki, Budapest and Jerusalem. His doctoral thesis, “Maltese Prepositions”, was published in 2003 by Carmel Publishing House. In addition to fourteen published books he himself has written, Dr. Saari has translated so far 102 books from ten languages to Hebrew and edited 21 books written originally in Hebrew. A linguist and lecturer by profession, Dr. Saari has been working for the last thirty years as a translator of prose and poetry and as books’ editor for several publishing houses. Dr. Saari is a citizen of Argentina, Finland and Israel. He is the recipient of major Israeli and Finnish literary prizes and awards.
